That’s a phrase to say out loud when passers by are close enough to hear. My version is “God have mercy on us all,” with a sombre look on my face. But if you’re all alone, no partner in conversation and therefore appearing to speak to oneself or said passers by, people tend to call the police, especially if you cross yourself.
